My first box arrived very quickly after ordering, just about a week later. The fun was apparent in this lime green polka dotted box with their logo on one side.
Here's a first look inside. Information card on top, some green crinkle shreds and an intriguing heart shape!
The welcome card introduces February's theme "Celebrate Love" and lists the products on the back.
There are four items in the box. The quality of each was immediately apparent.
This is a journal with a faux patent leather cover and beautiful details inside. "Hello Gorgeous" is embossed in gold on the front cover. Inside both covers is a cute fox print on green cardstock and there is an adorable little gold fox charm on a green ribbon to use as a bookmark. The pages are all ruled with aqua lines and there is a mermaid logo at the bottom of each page.
Just in time for Valentine's Day is this heavy silver heart-shaped bowl from Inspired Generations. The outside is a highly polished food safe aluminum and the inside is coated so that it won't etch with acidic foods. This serving bowl measures about 6 inches in diameter; the perfect size for serving nuts, candies or other snacks.
This "Love Knot" spoon goes with the heart dish. It, too, is quite heavy for its size and is highly polished. The two together would make a wonderful gift!
Last is this delicious bag of sea salt caramels from Mouth Party. These are made in Baltimore and contain only five ingredients. Pure deliciousness and half gone now!
I loved the selection of items in February's box! I thought the 5 Wacky Women ladies did an excellent job of picking things that would bring a smile to most women's faces. I particularly liked the unusual heart bowl and spoon combination; the quality is amazing. Everything is gift quality and the curation is top notch!
The one thing that stressed me about this box was the high shipping cost. $11.70 is the most I've ever paid to have a subscription box shipped. The fact that I'm in TX and the box is shipped from MD is the culprit. Subscription companies usually bury some part of the shipping in the cost of the box and/or pass on the savings they get from using commercial rates but I definitely paid full blown retail shipping on this one. If you live closer to MD, the postage sting won't be as bad but customers further away will feel the pain. Although I can't wait to see what comes in the next box, the high cost of shipping will limit the time I can stay with this subscription.
Be sure to check out the 5 Wacky Women shop on-line; it's full of wonderful items you probably haven't seen before. If you sign up using your e-mail address, you'll receive a 10% discount code. I'm not sure if this can be used on the Surprise box but it should be good for anything in their store.
Thanks for reading,
Cheryl
