For December, Boxycharm sent five full size beauty products and one deluxe sample size. The box contents were loosely themed around the opulence of the Jazz Age with rich shades and luxury hair and face products. I noticed that some subscribers received a slightly different assortment, specifically, some received a nail product rather than the facial mask sample in this box.
This big blue and white tube contains a Moisture Healing Mask from Nelson J of Beverly Hills. This is an argan oil formula for the hair that detangles, controls frizz, seals split ends, restores silkiness and shine and enhances natural body. I haven't tried this yet but it has a light coconut scent which always suggests hydration to me. Retail $23
Next is a gel lip liner from Bellapierre in a gorgeous shade called Cinnamon. This color would work with almost any skin tone and is versatile enough to use on its own or go with many other lip products. Retail $17.99
This cute little cork stoppered apothecary style jar contains a deluxe sample size of a powder facial mask from Mullein & Sparrow. I had never heard of this company but the name has a quintessentially British sound to it; lo and behold, they are based in Brooklyn, NY! So much for my cultural pretension. This mask consists of a blend of detoxifying clays and soothing herbs that helps refine pores and provides exfoliation. (Full size retail is $15; this sample would be something less than that.)
This liquid lipstick from Ofra is in the shade "Americano", a rich reddish brown color that would pair well with the Bellapierre lip liner above. This is long lasting, does not feather, is creamy and soft and contains anti-oxidants. Retail $19.90
Tatcha beauty papers (Japanese term: aburatorigami) have arrived in several boxes before. This packet contains 30 sheets which are made of abaca leaf (or manila hemp) and gold flake. These papers are used to absorb excess oil without disturbing makeup. Retail $12
Where, but the beauty universe, would you get to say words like "Jelly Pong Pong"? (Go ahead and say it out loud; get it out of your system!) This tube contains All Over Glow which is a lightweight oil-free luminizer. It contains pearlescent pigments and jasmine extract to enhance the complexion. I haven't had a lot of luck with similar products (they are usually too subtle to accomplish anything) but I'll give this one a try. Retail $15.95
Not counting the Mullein & Sparrow sample, the combined retail value of these five products is $88.84, not the highest multiple I've seen but nothing to complain about either. Even with inflated retail prices, it's clear that this box is a great buy.
Boxycharm has been an impressive and consistent performer in the beauty box business for at least a couple of years now. For that reason, I believe they are a safe bet for a longer term commitment. If you're interested, click here and use code DECEMBERBOXY for a 5% discount. This is actually the first discount code I've ever seen for Boxycharm and I think it is only good until 12/31/15 so snap it up quickly if you're looking for a great beauty box deal!
Thanks for reading,
Cheryl
