FabFitFun Summer 2014 Gift Box Review + $15, $10 & $5 Coupon Codes

FabFitFun's VIP membership entitles members to a quarterly gift box full of hand picked items ranging from fashion accessories to fitness to food to wellness and cosmetics. The selection is carefully curated and coordinated for each season. Giuliana Rancic is the celebrity associated with this fairly new subscription service which I believe has been in existence since the Spring of 2013.

FabFitfun boxes contain products with a total retail value of $120 and up. The quarterly subscription price is $49.99; you can save $20 by signing up for an annual subscription at $179.99.  Boxes are shipped in March, June, September and December.  Since these are limited edition boxes, they do sell out quickly so prospective members are encouraged to sign up in advance to reserve the next box.

Although you do fill out a preference questionnaire when signing up, the boxes are not personalized at present. I think they are working towards eventually doing that based on the information gathered.

The Summer 2014 FabFitFun box does not disappoint!  The products come in a big black box inside tissue paper sealed with a "FFF VIP" sticker.

All sorts of products were packed in this box...like getting a really fun birthday present! FabFitFun sends an attractive array of mostly full size products and several coupons.

They include an information brochure which tells all about the products and gives the retail price of each. The total retail value contained in the Summer box is $245.77. Much of that value comes from four of the products as you'll see below.

The highest value product in the box is the Sonya Dakar Flash Facial. This product was developed by Gwyneth Paltrow's famous facialist. It has a lot of anti-aging ingredients and promises to leave skin smooth and radiant, delivering results within 60 seconds.  I have heard rave reviews about the effectiveness of this product; some say it is easily worth the entire price of this box.  Retail is $95

I wasn't thrilled about seeing yet another tube of Pur-Lisse in a subscription box; but on closer inspection, this one is actually a SPF 30 sunscreen and moisturizer. This is another product that has received wonderful reviews for being super lightweight and nourishing. I'm skeptical about the retail price of $55...who would pay that for a 1.7 oz. tube of moisturizer?  But this is exactly why many people subscribe to these boxes...to get the opportunity to try high end products that would normally scare us away with the price. Retail $55

FabFitFun included their own version of a BPA-free water infuser bottle which has a central cylinder where you can add your own ingredients to infuse your water.  A similar bottle designed for use with citrus fruits was included in PopSugar's May box so I suspect that a lot of sub box addicts now have two of these! Retail $15

There is a package of POPchips in sour cream and onion flavor.  These are not baked or fried; they are somehow popped and only have 100 calories per bag! Retail $1.29

Lightweight hair oils that control frizziness and flyaways seem to be trendy lately; I've seen them in quite a few sub boxes.  This one is called Balanced Guru No Frizz Oil, an organic sesame and lemongrass balancing oil. It contains argan, jojoba and tamanu oils that help nourish and repair hair even in humid and tropical weather.  Retail $25

Probably the most highly anticipated item in the Summer FFF box is the mini clutch by Thursday Friday. These whimsical makeup bags are printed with Chanel handbag designs. I got the classic quilted pink bag printed on a canvas background.  This is a nicely made bag with a fun look to it!  Retail $35

They also included a gift card for $30 off any purchase at Thursday Friday's website. If you're interested, the code is FAB30.

There is a full size bottle of Zoya nail polish in a beautiful melon color called "Thandie". The brochure says this is the longest wearing natural nail polish on the market.  Retail $9

Next is a cute lip balm duo by Kisstixx.  One is in strawberry flavor and the other chocolate.  The idea is to kiss your significant other and experience the flavor mix! Retail $5.99

I wondered why two common drug store products (Always Xtra Protection Long Daily Liners, 12 count and Skintimate Shave Gel in Raspberry Rain, travel size) were included in this box.  The information card says these are "sponsored" products so I guess the manufacturers pay to have them included.  Not exciting, but useful.  Retail values $1.50 and $1.99.

One last sponsored product is a Slim Fast protein meal bar in a flavor I've never tried..."Have Your Cake". This one is in Vanilla and looks good except that it got pretty smashed in transit.  Oh well...birthday cake IS birthday cake!  Retail $1

As you can see, there is a LOT in this box!  The Sonya Dakar Flash Facial and the Pur-Lisse sunscreen are the major hits for me.  There really are no misses in this box; I think they did a good job of assembling a group of products that most women will enjoy.

If you would like to subscribe to FabFitFun, they gave me a great $15 discount code but unfortunately, it can only be used by the first three people who claim it.  If you act quickly, use code 4670601 to get $15 off your order.  Redeem this code here.

If you are NOT one of the first three to claim the above code, you can still get $10 off by using the code FLASH10.  I'm not sure how much longer that code will work so I'll also mention the code SUMMER5 which is good for $5 off until July 15th.

Did you receive the FabFitFun Summer box?  If so, did it live up to your expectations?
