If you read my post on Lip Monthly's June box, you might remember that I was less than impressed. This is a young company and I think they've made some mistakes but there is also some evidence that they are learning and improvements are being made. July's box just arrived and it definitely reflects positive change!
Lip Monthly's July box contains four full size lip products and one hair product sample. While the total value is not extremely high, it is considerably more than the price paid for this box. The array of products ranges from high end to budget as you'll see in the retail prices below.
The first product is a full size lipstick from Appeal Cosmetics in the shade "Red Light District", a classic intense red. This is a good quality lipstick but the color is very similar to one they included last month. I would like to have seen a different shade for the highest value product in this month's box. Retail is $22.00
Next is a Lip Lush Luscious Lip Crayon by City Color Cosmetics. This one is in the shade "Charm" which is a brownish pink shade. This looks like an unusual color to me but one that will probably work for most women. Retail $2.99
Another product by City Color Cosmetics is a lip balm in Bright Pink, sort of a bubblegum pink. I don't really care for this shade but then, a lot of lip balms don't leave much color behind anyway. I plan to give this one to a young niece since I think the shade would work better on a teenager. Retail $2.99
There is a full size Lip Glaze Stick from Stila in Orange. This is a really pretty deep reddish orange shade that looks like it has some shimmer to it. Retail $6.99
The non-lip product in this box is a 1.5 oz. sample of "Straight Fixation Smoothing Creme" by Frizz-Ease. This is a luxury size sample of a product that my hair really needs so I'm glad to get the chance to try it. I really like that they diversified the box a little bit with this product.
In my opinion, this box is quite an improvement over last month. The total value (not including the Frizz-Ease) of this box is $34.97, so you definitely get good value for price paid. ($10 or less, depending on subscription plan). I just hope they do not send another strong red lipstick next month!
If you'd like to try Lip Monthly, use the code SUMMERLIPS to get your first box for only $5.00. You can get multi-month subscriptions for even less per month. Use the code LIPMONTHLY4 to get a four month subscription for $36. LIPMONTHLY12 gets a full year's subscription for $110. Plans renew automatically and you can cancel at any time.
What do you think? Is Lip Monthly headed in the right direction?
