The Style Box includes a variety of on-trend items, some of which are not yet available to the general public. It contains an assortment of one size fits all accessories and popular fashion-oriented products. The price is $39.95 + 9.95 for shipping. Significant discounts are available for longer term subscriptions. (Unfortunately, there are no breaks on shipping for the longer subscriptions.) The value of the box is at least $100 and sometimes as much as $200.
My July Style Box arrived about two weeks after I first signed up. It's a black and white branded box with red tissue paper sealed around the contents inside.
Judging from the color description card, the theme of this box is summer glitz and glam. The information card gives a description and styling tips for each item and its retail value.
The standout item in this month's box is a stunning metallic gold clutch from Melie Bianco. I have a few other Melie Bianco handbags and have always been pleased with their quality so I was glad to get this elegant clutch. Unlike most clutches I've seen, this one is quite large. It has a gold frame and a thin gold chain strap so it can also be carried as a shoulder bag. The card indicates that they also came in silver, hot pink and blue but I'm glad I got the gold one. It's not a stretch to say this is the nicest item I've ever received in a subscription box!
The interior is quite roomy with a big zippered pocket on one side and two open pockets on the other side. The inside is lined with a gorgeous beige polka dot fabric. The photos really don't do justice to the quality and beauty of this bag. Retail value $110
The clutch came with its own dust bag. Since this is not what I'd call an everyday bag, it's nice that it has a home when not in use.
It's pretty hard for anything to follow that bag but I really like the next item too. The "Drop of Gold" bead earrings are classic studs that will go with anything. They are basic and just my style. These are quite shiny; again, the photo doesn't do them justice. Retail value $10
Next is a gold body chain necklace by Core Body Jewelry. This is pretty and can be worn in several ways but it's a miss for me. I think the Style Box should use a little upfront profiling to get an idea of their customers' tastes and preferences. The information card mentions that chains like these have been popularized by stars like Rihanna and Vanessa Hudgens....but a body chain is laughably inappropriate for me. I will try to arrange it as a necklace but chances are this will get gifted to a teenage niece. Retail value $20
I'm sure that some customers will appreciate the next item but it's another miss for me. This is a package of individual fit-to-flare lashes plus a small tube of glue. I don't wear false lashes so will have to find a home for these. Retail $2
The last item is an Esprit D'Oscar Eau De Parfum Rollerball by Oscar de la Renta. This looks like a full size item to me. This is a summery scent with notes of jasmine and iris as well as tonka bean and musk. It has a powdery quality and a little goes a long way. This is a new fragrance for me but I think I like it! Retail $25
That's a LOT of gold in one box, don't you agree? This really seemed like more of a holiday or winter themed box to me but I'm not complaining. The total retail value of the box is $167 but the exquisite Melie Bianco clutch (alone worth almost three times the cost of the box) really made the box for me. I do think the Style Box needs to provide some level of customization to allow for individual taste preferences.
If you're interested in trying the Style Box, click here and use code NSBEFREE10 to get $10 off your subscription. Socialbliss releases codes periodically that allow you to get an extra item in your box. I'm disappointed that I didn't know about these bonus codes before ordering since I've seen the beautiful bracelet they included for those who did have the code. Lesson learned--I'll be watching in the future!
So that's my Socialbliss Style Box review. Can't wait to see what comes in the August box!
