Bestowed Healthy Snack Box Review, July 2014 + $5.00 Discount Code!

For those who want to change their snack habits and find healthier food choices, Bestowed presents a lot of interesting new ideas in their monthly subscription box.  If you missed my first Bestowed review in June, you can read it here and get all the subscription details.  Since that review, Bestowed has increased their pricing structure slightly as detailed below.

Each month, they send 7 to 10 healthy snacks.  The price is $20 per month.  You can save 10% by signing up for three months at $18 a month or save 15% on a six month plan, which is $17 per month.

As before, Bestowed's orange branded box was gratifyingly heavy!  Size does count in this business, as any devoted subscription box subscriber will attest.

July's box contained one full size item, three full size single serve items, four sample size items and a couple of coupons.

The largest item is a 6 oz. package of Wasabi Crunchy Chickpeas by Saffron Road.  These are gluten free and full of protein.  Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of either wasabi or chickpeas so I will re-home these. (Perfect example of why eating healthy is SO difficult sometimes!)

Things are looking up...WAY up...with the next item, a Zing nutrition bar in the very promising "Double Nut Brownie" flavor.  Now we're talking!  With 10 grams of fat, there is hope of some great taste here.  (Yes, I know I have a bad attitude.)

There are a couple of tea samples from Runa called Mint Guayusa.  This energy tea provides the same amount of caffeine that you get in a cup of coffee with twice the antioxidants of green tea and a smooth, naturally sweet taste.  There is also an Aquatowel, "the premium personal towel".  These are useful but I wish there were several more in the box.

Next is a sample of extra virgin coconut oil by Kelapo.  This is 100% organic and trans fat free.  It can be used as an all-natural, flavorful and energy packed butter alternative.  I don't know about that.

Squeezable fruit packs have become surprisingly common in healthy snack subscription boxes.  This one is Blueberry Plum with apple and pear.  Seems like a very strange way for adults to consume fruit but the flavor combination sounds good!

The last product is a 12 oz. can of Zevia Ginger Ale which is made with pure ingredients and contains no calories or sugar.  I like ginger ale but don't drink it often so I'm glad to have this.

Also included are coupons for a dollar off on Zevia products and a free one month membership to YogaDownload.com, which offers on-line video and audio classes in yoga, meditation, Pilates and cardio.  If you're interested, the code to use is Klutch1MoFree.

That's it for Bestowed's July box.  Despite my misgivings concerning the largest item in the box, I'm pretty happy with the rest of it and feel that I got my money's worth.

P.S.  Bestowed also sells many healthy snack and food items individually on their site. Most of these are sold in multi-packs at pretty good prices.  Let's face it....a lot of healthy snacks are acquired tastes.  This is a great way of getting just the ones you know you'll like without the risk of getting items you'll never eat in the subscription boxes.
