Statement jewelry has been a trend for a couple of years now. I'm guessing the appeal lies largely with a younger demographic but who knows? For those whose tastes run more to classic, dainty and elegant, Cate & Chloe provides a welcome alternative to the over sized, gaudy and colorful. Their site was conceived to provide affordable glamour to accessorize professional attire. They recently introduced the VIP Box which sends two hand picked pieces each month.
My August review contained all the subscription information and pricing plans. I loved the pieces that I received in my first box but in September, I received two pieces that just weren't me. The exchange process was both friendly and extremely generous. I was allowed to choose two replacement pieces from anything on their site. Knowing that Cate & Chloe is so invested in customer satisfaction is the reason I am still subscribed. (well, there is the stunning jewelry too.......!)
So let's see what arrived in my October box. I'm not sure if their system "learns" your preferences when you return things, but they certainly nailed my tastes with the two pieces that came in this month's pretty pink box.
Inside my items were wrapped in cheetah print tissue. There were two cards included; one introducing the pieces I received and one that talks about fall fashion trends and gives tips on jewelry cleaning.
On the subject of cleaning, they included a black Cate & Chloe logo wipe cloth with which to polish jewelry.
One pair of earrings was packaged in their signature box with ribbon ties and there was a necklace in a black drawstring bag.
These earrings are absolutely stunning. They are called Mary "Motherly" Earrings and retail for $125. Unfortunately, my photography skills fail these beautiful earrings. They are diamond drops with tiny pave set stones on a loop above them. These are a classic and could dress up any outfit without being the least bit ostentatious. Just gorgeous!
My second item is the "Lorraine Royal Necklace". This one is somewhat of a statement piece although one that I can handle. It has a turquoise cabochon on a thick gold chain with a fall of mini chains below the stone. The main chain is the highlight of this piece (in my opinion) and can be completely removed to be worn on its own, layered with other pieces or worn with a different pendant. Retail $99
As I mentioned in my last Cate & Chloe review, it's hard to justify spending enormous amounts of money on "real" jewelry when such gorgeous fashion pieces are available at prices that everybody can afford....which is even more true with regard to the Cate & Chloe VIP Box.
If you're interested in trying the VIP Box or purchasing individual items on Cate & Chloe's site, be sure to sign up through eBates so you can get 10% cash back on your purchase!
