Target Beauty Box Review, Fall 2014 + Give Away! (Contest Closed)

***Congratulations to Patricia in Decatur, IL for winning the free Target box!  The Target give away is now closed but stay tuned....there will be more!***

I haven't figured out how often Target makes a new Beauty Box available but I believe the Fall box is only their second or third one for this year.  At just $7.00, these boxes are a great value and it's really nice that they are available on the site for a long time.  If you've encountered some of the insanely competitive beauty box grabs (Allure's frequent fiascos come to mind), the accessibility of Target's Beauty Box is a welcome relief.

Target's Beauty Box arrives in a familiar sleeve....except the targets are drawn with various cosmetics!

Inside the sleeve is a plain white gift box.

The beauty loot is neatly packaged in red tissue paper.

This box contains two full size items and three generously sized samples.

There are two cards inside.  One contains a code with which you can get 20% off your purchase plus free shipping at Dermstore.com.  When you use the code LOVEBEAUTY, you'll also get a free gift with your purchase.  This promotion expires 12/31/14.  The second card tells about each item in this box and contains a $3.00 off coupon for use with a Target beauty purchase.

The first item is a fold out card that contains a cosmetic puff and three samples of Laneige BB Cushion. This is a new patented technology that involves pressing an antimicrobial puff against an air cushion which distributes the right amount of product. This packet contains samples in light, medium and dark. Laneige BB Cushion contains SPF 50+ sunscreen, a feature I always look for in anything that goes on my face. It also brightens, hydrates and provides long lasting coverage.

Next is a 1.7 oz. sample of Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher, which is a dry shampoo.  This dispenses a very fine mist that absorbs dirt and oil.

I've come to really appreciate the benefits of a good white eye pencil.  They are great for highlighting the inner corners and brightening along the brow bone. This is a full size Jumbo Eye Pencil from NYX in the color "Milk".  Very useful product!

There is a 2.2 oz. sample can of L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray in Extra Strong Hold.  This is a "massive hold" hairspray that adds brilliant shine and brushes out very easily.

My favorite product in this box is a full size L'Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in the shade "Nude Ballet", which is a very wearable beigey-pink housed in a sleek gold case.

Overall, I thought this was a really nice collection for just seven bucks.  The lipstick alone retails for $9.99!!  This box is quite similar in concept to Walmart's Beauty Box; they are both doing a great job of sending full size products and luxury samples of the latest in mass market beauty products. Since the price of these boxes doesn't begin to cover their cost, I'm not sure exactly what their marketing goal is but I'm hoping they will both decide to make these boxes available more frequently!

If you'd like to pick up a Beauty Box from Target, click here. The arrival and departure of these boxes seems to be pretty random, but I see that they are still available as of the date of this post.

Now for some really good news!  I have an extra Target Beauty Box to give away!  All you have to do to enter is be subscribed to this blog.  I'll pick a winner at random in one week and contact you via e-mail. Due to the prohibitive cost of international shipping, unfortunately, I can only make this contest available to those in the United States.  Best of luck!

As always, thanks so much for reading,

Cheryl
